both proud and disapponted in Cali...

Thank the lord above.  We have supported the movement towards change that eventually lead to the election of our Barack Obama. I am elated, I am so happy and inspired.  My pride in my country has been rejuvenated and I am taken aback at the thought that the fundamental pillars of what the USA was created actually exist.

However, we've also taken a step backwards.  My fellow Californians have chosen to ban same-sex marriages, therefore solely recognizing heterosexuals as true unionships.  This disappoints me on so many levels.  Many have used the "child" as the reason why same-sex marriage should not be allowed;but, children will continue to see and be exposed to homosexuality, no matter if the couples are, indeed, married.  This was definitely a blow to fundamental rights and equality.
