In rememberance

9/11 is a point in time in which all citizens of the US will remember where they were, what they were doing and how they felt when the Towers were hit. I was a Senior in high school. I distinctly remember waking up, and my mother standing in my bedroom and saying, "I think we're going to war." I responded "What?" still groggy from just waking up. "We were attacked."

I remember getting dressed, feeling an emotion that I'd never felt before. I walked into the ASB office, and my director had the television on keeping note of the news. The entire day seemed incredibly silent, somber and unreal. I didn't understand, and as I reminisce, I still don't understand.

7 years later, as we face the most important Election period of my life, we have an African American Presidential candidate as well as the normal WASP Republican candidate. The years that followed 9/11 lead the US into a period of strife and difficulty. It is time for a change. It is time to give the power of influence and decision making to another typre of leader. We need someone who is confident and aware, someone who could back their confidence and strength with genuine intelligence. Someone who is elegantly classy, yet down to earth. We need to elect Barack Obama. I believe if we do not make the best choice, we are doomed to follow in the footsteps of the current President and continue to cut ties with other great countries, look like idiots and end the status of "this world power".

I'm done. I fear the future if John McCain and Sarah Palin are voted into the White House.
